Hampden Park - Going to a Match
Published: 6th July 2010
Hampden Park is at least a 50-minute walk from the city centre so please leave plenty of time to get there for kick-off. There are regular buses which would normally take around 15 minutes to drop you off close to the stadium, but on match day traffic will be very heavy and it will take much longer. Numbers 5 from St Enoch’s Centre, 75 from Argyle St and the 31 and 37 from Stockwell St, will take you there. Buy your ticket from the driver.
It will take you around 10 minutes in a taxi, but the roads on match days can be very congested so give yourself plenty of time to reach the stadium before kick-off. By train you can travel from Glasgow Central Station to either Mount Florida or Kings Park.
Mount Florida station is only five minutes away from the ground and services leave from Central every 10 minutes.
Kings Park station is about 10 minutes walk away from the stadium with around two trains an hour leaving from Central.
The last trains for Central leave these stations shortly after 11pm.
At the stadium
Away fans are generally housed in Section A and seated from Section A1 up to A7 depending on the size of support.
Disabled fans should head for the ramp at the southwest corner of the stadium and show tickets to stewards who will guide you to the lift. Press the button for level 4 and you’ll find your seat in Section A.
Hampden Park is an all-seated stadium and all spectators must remain in seats allocated to them during the match. Note that smoking will not be permitted. It is also illegal to take alcohol into the stadium with you or to attempt to enter if you’re drunk. Police will not allow fireworks or flares and you’ll have to leave behind anything that could be used as a weapon or cause annoyance to others in the crowd. Sometimes the away fans are asked to remain within the stadium until around 10 minutes after the game - listen for any announcements.
