Edinburgh Airport Turnhouse Road, Edinburgh Midlothian Scotland
Edinburgh Airport
Published: 10th June 2010
Edinburgh Airport is located at Turnhouse in the City of Edinburgh, Scotland, and was the busiest airport in Scotland in 2009, handling just over nine million passengers. Showing its superiority in choice. How this came about is the reason I write this blog.
Edinburgh airport provides so much more than just a place where you come to catch your flight. It is virtually a shopping centre, bank and airport all joined together to create one big, grand complex.
The airport has 18 terminals operating outwith the departures section and as demand grows and trends change so has the airport. For example since the smoking ban Edinburgh Airport has stepped and allocated smoking areas for those who do smoke. As expected, travellers come from all walks of life and cultures therefore Edinburgh Airport has dedicated areas in which people can go and carry out worship, showing the airports great commitment to peoples religious needs.
Shopping at Edinburgh Airport
As expected Edinburgh airport provides travellers with a great range of shops to choose from before or after travelling, big name stores such as Dixons, Boots, WH Smith and Spectrum Interactive (internet cafe) for use to all travellers.
The real eye opener comes when travellers have gone past security and enter a whole new realm of shopping at the airports "World duty free", providing big name brand items at a more cheaper price. The duty free shopping range is exclusive to the airport, ranging from tobacco to cigars, designer accessories to designer clothing, cosmetics to confectionary.
