Hearts reject Burnley bid for £3.5m-rated winger Andrew Driver
Hearts turned down an improved offer from Burnley yesterday, for highly-rated winger Andrew Driver. The relegated Premier League club had an earlier offer of £1.5m turned down and have now bid £2.5m for the player, with incentives that could see the fee rise to £4m. Hearts, however, are holding out for a figure closer to £3.5m up front for Driver, who has just been made available to play for Scotland due to a change in international eligibilty rules.
Driver, who left Oldham Athletic at the age of 11 to move to Scotland, has recently become a first team regular with the Edinburgh outfit, although injury limited him to just 14 appearances last season.
In 2008, under previous Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo, Driver signed a long-term deal with the club.
Recently however, Hearts have announced that there is "healthy interest" in the player from a number of clubs, including Coventry and Twente Enschede, who have both had bids rejected.
