Burnley end interest in Hearts winger Andrew Driver Gorgie Road, Edinburgh Midlothian Scotland
Published: 4th July 2010
Burnley boss Brian Laws has accused Hearts of being stubborn over the asking price for Andrew Driver and has now ended his interest in the winger. The Clarets have had two bids for the 22-year-old rejected by the SPL club, who are thought to want £3.5m up front. Laws told BBC Radio Lancashire: "It's dead, they're being stubborn - it's too many things I feel uncomfortable with." Burnley are keen to make a signing soon, with Preston's Ross Wallace and Cardiff's Peter Whittingham linked. Laws has refused to confirm or deny his targets but said he hopes to have a left-sided player in by the end of the week. "It's not just Driver," he said. "There are other players and we're waiting for those to fall into place. "We'r

The relegated Premier League club had an earlier offer of £1.5m turned down and have now bid £2.5m for the player, with incentives that could see the fee rise to £4m. Hearts, however, are holding out for a figure closer to £3.5m up front for Driver, who has just been made available to play for Scotland due to a change in international eligibilty rules.Driver, who left Oldham Athletic at the age of 11 to move to Scotland, has recently become a first team regular with the Edinburgh outfit, although injury limi

Andy Driver to miss Hearts' pre-season due to operation ANDY DRIVER will travel to Sweden next week for an operation which will preclude him from much of Hearts' pre-season preparations, however, the procedure should finally rid the winger of his persistent thigh injury. Driver is to undergo revolutionary treatment involving scraping the thigh tendon to remove defective collagen. He will be unable to play for four to six weeks afterwards but remains hopeful of being fit for the SPL kick-off on Saturday, 14 August. The 22-year-old visited Vladimir Romanov, Hearts' majority shareholder, in Lithuania on Monday to discuss his future. During the trip he was examined by Lithuanian medics, who reached the same conclusion as their Ricca

Bristol City have denied reports midfielder Paul Hartley has been transfer-listed. The 33-year-old Scotland international, who joined in July 2009 following his release from Celtic, has been linked with a summer move to his former club Hearts. However, City chief executive Colin Sexstone has dismissed the rumours Hartley, who has a year left on his contract, has been made available for transfer and denied there has been any contact between the Ashton Gate club and the Jambos regarding the player. He told the club's official website: "I'm not sure where these stories come from but people are playing with words and getting it wrong. "There has been absolutely no dialogue between Bristol City and Hearts and I can say categorically that

Hearts are in talks with more transfer targets, according to director Sergejus Fedotovas. Hearts seek £5m for Driver Gorgie Road, Edinburgh Midlothian Scotland
Published: 17th June 2010
THE £3.5 million Hearts are seeking for Andrew Driver would only be a down payment, as majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov continues discussions with his Chelsea counterpart Roman Abramovich over a loan agreement and potential £5m transfer. The Edinburgh club are determined that the 22-year-old winger will not leave for anything below market value following an offer from Burnley plus inquiries from Chelsea, Wigan, Middlesbrough and FC Twente. Gorgie Road City Farm Gorgie Road, Edinburgh Midlothian Scotland

Established in the late 1970's and opened officially in 1982, Gorgie City Farm is known by several generations of visitors. The farm is a well established, favourite place to visit for many people in Edinburgh and the Lothians, and for some, we seem to be hidden away, screened from the busy traffic in Gorgie Road. The farm, with it's animals and gardens, has always been considered as a place to visit, relax and see what is new, and of course with no admission charge, people can call in for short visits, to have lunch, or just to take some fresh air even on the most dismal winter's day. The farm is welcoming and all inclusive, open to all, and has something for everyone whatever their background or abilities. It is also surp
