Liechtenstein v Scotland preview

Skipper Fletcher overcomes illness to give Scotland late boost.

Scotland travel to Liechtenstein for their penultimate Euro 2012 qualifier on Saturday evening looking to keep their slim hopes of reaching the tournament alive.

Craig Levein's men sit third in Group I and two points behind second-placed Czech Republic, who entertain runaway group leaders Spain on Friday evening

Scotland will hope to keep the pressure on the Czechs with a good result in Vaduz ahead of their own crunch meeting with Vicente del Bosque's World Champions next Tuesday.

Should the Czechs hold Spain on Friday it would leave the Scots' hopes of securing a play-off spot hanging by a thread, but Levein has already stated he believes La Roja will prove too strong for their hosts.

Scotland kept themselves in contention last time out against Lithuania at Hampden Park, with Steven Naismith finding the crucial winner as the hosts triumphed 1-0.

Levein's men also beat Liechtenstein on home turf just over a year ago but their away record is less impressive, having failed to win either of their two games on the road.

Scotland have received a boost ahead of Saturday's clash with the news that captain Darren Fletcher could feature after overcoming tonsillitis.

The skipper flew out to join his team-mates in Liechtenstein on Friday and Levein has said he could feature in some capacity if he passes a late fitness test.

Striker Kenny Miller is a major doubt with a groin injury, while Scott Brown and Robert Snodgrass are both missing with ankle problems.

The manager will be hoping to call on Alan Hutton, Graham Dorrans and Barry Robson, who have all returned to training.

Liechtenstein boss Hans-Peter Zuagg will be without midfielder Franz Burgmeier for the clash due to suspension.

Philippe Erne and Franz-Josef Vogt will also be absent due to injury.

The hosts are waiting on the fitness of Michael Stocklasa and top goalscorer Mario Frick but both are expected to be available
