I joined Fife Constabulary in March 1988 and worked in Central Division as a uniformed beat officer at Glenrothes. During 1993–1995 I left the Police and had a career break travelling around Australia and Asia. In February 1995 I rejoined the Police and worked in Eastern Division as a uniformed beat officer at Cupar. Between July 1997 and December 1998 I worked at Anstruther sub station. Between 1998-2001, I joined Cupar CID as a Detective Constable and in October 2001 I returned to Glenrothes as a uniformed beat officer, I then joined Glenrothes Community Team in April 2009.

I joined Fife Constabulary in March 2007, and was stationed at Levenmouth for the first 3 months. I then moved to Glenrothes, and I have remained there since. I am married with 2 children and enjoy watching and playing sports with a keen interest in football. In my new position as a community officer I will be covering the areas of glenrothes.
Policing priorities in the Collydean, Pitcairn, Whinnyknowe Area
Priority 1 - Drug and alcohol misuse
Progress update:
* Operation Laser was carried out on19th-20th February 2010, which tackled youth disorder in hot spot areas, specifically to identify alcohol and drug offences.
* Liaised with local residents to gather intelligence.
* ASBO tickets issued to offenders consuming alcohol in a public place.
* A quantity of alcohol has been seized from offenders.
*Contact has been made with local shop owners to identify possible persons responsible for public nuisance through alcohol misuse.
*Update 14 April - A number of high visibility patrols have been carried out within hot spot areas.
*Update 14 May - Plain clothes and high visibility foot patrols have been carried out in hot spot areas by a number of officers, resulting in a quantity of alcohol being seized and ASBO fixed penalty tickets issued. Groups of youths congregating in hot spot areas were advised and moved on.
*A large number of youths have been searched and a quantity of alcohol seized.
*Local off licences are working in partnership with the Police in relation to youths congregating and attempting to purchase alcohol.
*Update 23 June - Operation LASER was carried out in the area on Friday 18 June 2010, which tackled youth disorder in hot spot areas in relation to alcohol misuse and youth disorder resulting in a decrease in number of calls to Police.
*A number of searches were carried out on offenders within hot spot areas resulting in alcohol being seized and ASBO fixed penalty tickets being issued.
Priority 2 - Noise nuisance
Progress update:
* Liaised with local housing team to establish specific households and individuals responsible.
* Operation Laser was carried out over the weekend 19th-20th February 2010, which tackled youth disorder in hot spot areas, specifically to identify noise disorder.
*Neighbour complaint incident diaries have been distributed to residents in relevant areas.
*Foot patrols continue to be carried out in the area.
*Officers have re-contacted residents who have advised that there has been a noticeable reduction in noise nuisance from households identified.
*No warning letters issued to youth offenders to date, however there was a quantity of alcohol seized from persons causing noise nuisance in hot spot areas on 26 March.
*On 30 April a household within Ballater Green was issued a verbal warning by the Nightime Noise Team.
*Due to a slight increase in calls to the area, the Housing Investigation Team have been contacted and made aware of problem households within the area.
*Update 14 May - Plain clothes and high visibility foot patrols have been carried out in hot spot areas. Groups of youths congregating in hot spot areas causing noise nuisance were spoken to and the area dispersed.
*Update 23 June - There has been a noticeable reduction in complaints of noise nuisance from residents within Ballater Green area.
* Operation LASER was deployed to carry out in patrols in hot spot areas.
*A number of warning letters have been issued to offenders and alcohol seized.
Priority 3 - Street lighting in Turriff Brae
Progress update:
*Officers have contacted Transportation Services who are going to obtain an estimate to have street lighting installed within the pathway from Turriff Brae to Formonthills Road.
*Glenrothes Area Community Safety Co-ordinating Group have been made aware of this issue and are looking at options available.
