Clarke Cottage Halbeath Road, Dunfermline Fife Scotland

Clarke Cottage

Published: 28th June 2010

Situated on the East side of Dunfermline, Scotlands Ancient Capital, Clarke Cottage dates back to 1890 and was the original residence of the Black Family who owned the surrounding Bleachfield Works.

Dunfermline was then famous for linen and the Black Family were prominent and respected in Society. At that time the property boasted of a tennis court, swimming pool and large gardens. In more recent times, Clarke Cottage has been used as a family home with the Bleachworks and adjacent land being progressively sold off.

The current owners, Aileen & David Neill purchased Clarke Cottage in March 1982 and brought up their family in this historic residence. In 1993 the first extension to the property provided 4 en-suite twin bedrooms and this was the creation of Clarke Cottage Guest House. The Guest House was so popular that, in 1997 a further 3 en-suite double bedrooms and 2 en-suite twin bedrooms were added. In addition a residents lounge and dining conservatory were also provided. Additional car parking was necessary and this was provided at the rear of the Guest House.
