MINI to Produce 3 Door Beachcomber Variant? Ferring Street, Worthing Sussex England
Published: 12th July 2010
MINI is seriously considering putting a version of the Beachcomber into production in the coming years. But what form will it take? That’s where we pick up Scott27’s latest insider information. But one quick caveat before we get to that. The following is his opinion and not ours. While it seems very plausible (and we hope it’s correct) we know first hand how quickly product decisions can be made and then reversed. The Problem with the Beachcomber is that not everybody is around sea and sand 24/7 especially for a five door concept. Whilst the Beachcomber is a practical solution for a surfer or triathlete and their friends , it does not sit well with the corporate image of having a five dr beach orientated vehicle. A S

MINI Release Final European Countryman Ferring Street, Worthing Sussex England
Published: 12th July 2010
With the official press introduction of the MINI Countryman kicking off this week in Hamburg Germany, MINI is finally rolling out the full and final European specifications of the crossover. No surprises as we had seen preliminary specifications earlier this year. What we can gather from this is, yes, there are a couple of models that come close and or break the 3,000 lbs barrier (notably the MCS at 2,882 and the MCS ALL4 at 3,042). However the Countryman will surely be one of the lightest and perhaps the most nimble mass produces small crossover on the market. Can I Retrofit the Refreshed Interior? We’ve had a number of emails asking about the possibility of retrofitting various parts of the 2011 MINI refresh. Specifically the

Mini Cooper grabs attention in Amsterdam Ferring Street, Worthing Sussex England
Published: 11th July 2010
Effective marketing is all about being remarkable. The new Mini Cooper campaign in Amsterdam is a good reminder of the golden rule: you create brand value when both your product and your campaign are being talked about. 1. Lean into the frame (hijack existing attention capital, in this case the street public); 2. Be disruptive (not necessarily provocative or intrusive). In other words: challenge people's routine by introducing an element of surprise; 3. Highlight your core brand attributes (in this case, and overall in the "age of micro," this actually and literally means making them "smaller than life"); 4. Make sure you make content readily available that lets people "socialize" the campaign event (photos, videos, etc.); 6.

Mini One Minimalist Released - Ferring Street, Worthing Sussex England
Published: 8th July 2010
Don't Like Clutter try this for size Mini, BMW-owned maker of small cars for the fashionable, has taken the drive for better fuel economy as seriously as any other maker. It has a programme in place called Minimalism, which is broadly equivalent to its parent maker’s better-known EfficientDynamics scheme. Minimalism employs a range of miserly techniques including automatic engine stop-start, a shift indicator to encourage the driver to select the most economical gear, and so-called regenerative battery charging, in which the alternator does its work during engine braking and is decoupled at other times to reduce unnecessary loads. At the Geneva Motor show this year the company announced a new extra-frugal model designed to reduce c

Exciting Mini Roadster - Ferring Street, Worthing Sussex England
Published: 3rd July 2010
MINI has officially revealed the Roadster Concept alongside the Coupe Concept we saw a few of weeks ago, and like the rigid top version, the Roadster is a two-seater with a chopped roofline and tilted back windscreen. This is almost certainly the second new model that will be produced at MINI's Oxford UK assembly plant alongside the Coupe. Also like the Coupe, the Roadster appears pretty much unchanged from the belt-line down compared to existing MINIs. For the Roadster, the roll-bar structure has been shifted forward so it sits directly behind the seats. For anyone who's driven the current Mini Convertible, this should improve the lil' coupe's structural rigidity, making the Roadster a more competent handler in the process. Another

Reviving a name familiar to millions of original Mini drivers, the new Countryman will make up the fourth model in the MINI family. Aimed at owners who find the MINI is no longer meeting their needs (for instance, because of a growing family), the Countryman provides extra versatility and practicality. It's the first model in the MINI range with four doors and a wide-opening rear lid, and enjoys a slightly elevated seating position. Like most crossovers on the market, the car will be offered with optional four-wheel drive, in the form of MINI ALL4 system. A choice of three petrol and two diesel engines built in co

If the Sixties were about experimenting, Alec Issigonis and John Cooper were the men in motoring who laughed in the face of the rulebook. Kicking constraints into touch and starting afresh, Issigonis made an international success out of his ever-so British brainchild, the Mini. But it was only when he paired up with Cooper, the Formula One race-car designer, that the true magic shone through, in the brilliance of the 1961 Mini Cooper. Transforming the original Mini from tiny to tearaway, the souped-up super-Cooper won the public’s adoration. Here was a car that could out-corner Ferraris for a factory-floor wage packet. Little wonder that from the decade that spawned more British stars than any other, the Mini Cooper is up th

BMW has built the ultimate track-day blaster. The Mini GP is easily the most focussed yet. Old meets new : The funky GP, or to give it its ridiculous full moniker, the 'Mini Cooper S featuring the John Cooper Works GP Kit', raises a few eyebrows and will not to be everyone’s taste. Carbon fibre rear wing, comprehensive body kit, the limited edition model number blazoned on the roof and the red door mirrors all shout 'look at me'. Mini History Ferring Street, Worthing Sussex England

The Mini The Mini is a small car that was made by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and its successors from 1959 until 2000. The original is considered an icon of the 1960s,[3][4][5] and its space-saving front-wheel-drive layout (that allowed 80% of the area of the car'sfloorpan to be used for passengers and luggage) influenced a generation of car-makers.[6] The vehicle is in some ways considered the British equivalent to its German contemporary, the Volkswagen Beetle, which enjoyed similar popularity in North America. In 1999 the Mini was voted the second most influential car of the 20th Century, behind the Ford Model T. This distinctive two-door car was designed for BMC by&n

1959 The Beginning of Greatness The Mini began its public life on the 26 August 1959. The Mini was designed simply to be an affordable car which could seat four adults and still be small enough to travel in safety. Originally powered by 850cc 34bhp engine, this was the Mini in its purest form, simple, clean and agile. 1960-1969 The Evolution Although the Mini saw through six decades it is always the 1960s for which it will be remembered for. 964 Monte Carlo Rally The Monte Carlo Rally promised to be more exciting than ever in 1964. And what had become increasingly evident in the years before then became a clear fact on 17 January 1964. The era of the amateurs was coming to an end, with more and more works teams now entering the Monte. The ultra-powerful Ford Falcons of Greder/Delalande and Schlesser/Leguezec were matched by the Mercedes-Benz 300 SE driven by Bohringer/Kaiser and Glemser/Braungart. But Trana/Lindstrom at the wheel of a Volvo 544 also expected to look good, just like Toivonen/Jarvi in their Volkswagen 1500. Citroen entered no less than four DS 19s, but in terms of sheer numbers everyone still lagged behind the BMC, registering an six nimble Minis, with 24

We landed at around 12.20pm and boarded a Taxi to the location of this little beauty, the rain still lashing Down. Well I wasn't dissapointed there she was in her original state excluding original spots. So we had a cup of tea and a Kit Kat, handed over the money and set off on our way to Belfast City centre for tea. Having looked around the shops, the weather had turned much worse, heavy driving rain, we drove out of the carpark and headed to the Ferry, the r

No 2 was recently sold for £13,500.00 with 80,000 miles on the clock but totally re-built, new panels, and fittings, lots of the original car lost.
