  • Glastonbury 2010 - Diary - Friday Worthy Lane, Shepton Mallet Somerset England

    Published: 24th June 2011

Friday… People think Glastonbury is all about sitting in the chillax field, propped up against a teepee shooting the breeze with a couple of ld grizzled hippies. Well let us tell you – we’ve never been so busy in our lives. We arrived on Thursday morning and the haystack that was the festival contained the needles that were our passes to get us in. Like the trials of Hercules or summat we went from the Red Car Park to pedestrian gate C battling heat and dust with only cans of cider to slake our thirst – it was 10.30am after all. Like some cold war spy thriller we had a contact, and we had to meet him for the exchange of passes to take place. Trouble was, Bez was our contact, and as most people know he&rsq

    Published: 27th June 2010

GLASTONBURY: THE FACTS AND FIGURES BEHIND THE WORLD'S BIGGEST MUSIC FESTIVAL       WHEN a few hundred hippies gathered in a field near Glastonbury in 1970 no one could have envisaged that they were witnessing the birth of the world’s largest open-air music festival. It was the day after Jimi hendrix died and the £1 admission cost included milk from the nearby dairy farm. Organisers unwittingly enlisted the local hell’s Angels chapter to handle security but they are said to have made off with the ox roast. Although memories of that first Glastonbury are now hazy it is widely accepted that a Bristol rock band called Stackridge has the distinction of being the first to perform at this no

  • FLORENCE HAS TEARFUL GLASTONBURY TRIUMPH. Worthy Lane, Shepton Mallet Somerset England

    Published: 27th June 2010

Florence has tearful Glastonbury triumph. Florence and the Machine singer Florence Welch choked backed tears as she thanked fans for their support during an emotion-charged set at the U.K.'s Glastonbury Festival on Friday, June 25. The British band first performed at the event in a tiny tent in 2007, and have returned each year since, playing higher on the bill each time. And during their biggest show to date, on the 2010 festival's opening day, frontwoman Welch was overcome by emotion several times during the band's set. She even stopped the group during a rousing rendition of their hit "Dog Days Are Over", visibly fighting back tears as she told the crowd, "This is a pretty big moment for me. To start in a tent and then be here..

  • Glastonbury review 2010 Worthy Lane, Shepton Mallet Somerset England

    Published: 25th June 2010

Glastonbury review 2010     The end of June means that the emperor of all festivals is back for another 1000-acre weekend of insanity for the 177,500 of us who managed to get hold of a ticket. As ever the build-up to this year's event attracted a lot of debate over the headliners - well, one headliner in particular. For when Irish rockers U2 were announced to be preparing for their first ever appearance at Worthy Farm, a collective sneer travelled around the internet, with a power that forced any Bono admirers into the closet and slammed the door. However, with Bono's joints not being what they used to be, the band pul
