I've had the "Camilla face-lift"! The Mall, London Middlesex England
Published: 30th July 2010
I've had the "Camilla face-lift"! As beauty therapist Deborah Mitchell admits to treating the Duchess of Cornwall's face with bee venom, Rosie Millard puts the organic face-lift to the test. Deborah Mitchell is one of the country’s most respected beauty therapists, but today she is one harrassed woman. “There are 100 messages on my phone!” she shouts as she arrives at her West End clinic. “Everyone in England wants me. Germany wants me. Dubai wants 1,000 pots. Immediately.” Last week she inadvertendly let slip that she has been treating the Duchess of Cornwall’s face with bee venom, no less. Now the whole world wants a go. Forget about bee-stung lips. Bee-stung cheeks what everyone wants t

Prince of Wales tries hand at thatching The Prince of Wales turned his hand to thatching today when he visited students at an environmental summer school. The Prince was touring his Foundation for the Built Environment Summer School at Ty-Mawr Lime in Mid Wales when he had a go at shaping straw for a thatched roof. He learned how to join the reeds together before patting them down neatly and impressed teacher Alan Jones, who said he showed considerable promise. Mr Jones, 55, who has been a thatcher for 30 years, said: "I thought his dressing up was very good, when he patted it into shape. "His joining was not as good because he hadn't watched anyone else do it. "Everyone else learns by watching me so he did really well t

Zara Phillips: Call me an 'athlete' not a princess or model Zara Phillips has declared she would rather be known as an "athlete" than a "princess or a model", as she launched her first ever clothes collection. The Princess Royal's daughter said: "Athlete is good. The other two can get dropped." She added: "I'm not a princess anyway. It's all about the job." The 29 year-old was speaking at the launch of an equestrian-wear range for Musto which she designed - and modelled - herself. She admitted that she found the modelling aspect of her collaboration trying at times. "I start off really not wanting to do it in the morning but then it gets better," she said. "Most of the time I like the pictures." Miss Phillips

Prince of Wales's curtains to be made into carrier bags The Mall, London Middlesex England

Prince of Wales's curtains to be made into carrier bags The Prince of Wales is to recycle his old curtains into carrier bags as part of a new campaign to promote sustainability. Visitors to a 12-day long garden party being staged on the Mall in London in September will be able to sew their own Morsbags out of curtains which until recently hung in Clarence House. The Prince regards the Morsbags scheme – named after its founder, Claire Morsman – as a perfect example of the way everyone can reduce waste. Morsbags, large, square shopping bags carried over the shoulder, are made by volunteers all over the country and given away to the public to help reduce the millions of plastic carrier bags used every day. GM off menu as Prince of Wales meets Caroline Spelman The Prince of Wales has met Caroline Spelman, the new Environment Secretary, but GM crops were not on the agenda. Always eager to put forward his views on rural affairs, the Prince of Wales has held his first private meeting with Caroline Spelman, the Environment Secretary. Her spokesman is keen to make clear that there was, however, one issue which remained firmly off the agenda at Clarence House last week: genetically modified crops. "I can't disclose what they talked about, but I can confirm that GM didn't come up at any point in their discussions," he declares. Last month, Spelman came out in favour of genetically modified crops and announced a trial of GM potatoes i

Queen leads Royal Family on island cruise The Mall, London Middlesex England

Queen leads Royal Family on island cruise For a smiling Queen it was a chance to relive some of her happiest memories of her long reign, surrounded by her family. The monarch used to adore her annual cruises around the Western Isles of Scotland aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia and wept when the ship was decommissioned in 1997. Those days seemed destined to be more than a memory, but so keen was she to repeat the experience that she has spent an estimated £200,000 chartering a new cruise for her children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Among the highlights of the trip will be two parties to celebrate the 60th birthday of The Princess Royal next month and the 50th birthday of The Duke of York earlier this year. Bathed i

Ms Winfrey is preparing to launch her own cable channel in 2011 and has offered the Duchess, who is struggling with debts of £2 million, a deal. The offer comes after Sarah Ferguson appeared on the Oprah Show in May where she apologised after being caught asking for £500,000 to provide access to Prince Andrew – a deal the prince knew nothing about. A source close to the Duchess told The Mail on Sunday: “Oprah made the call this week. They spoke in person and, for Sarah, the offer is a ray of light at the end of a very dark tunne

Prince of Wales: Countryside could become scrubland and ghost villages Britain’s most beloved landscapes would be reduced to “scrubland” and “ghost villages” without farmers to care for the countryside, the Prince of Wales has warned. The Prince said upland areas like the Lake District, Exmoor and the Yorkshire Dales will become nothing more than “extreme adventure playgrounds” for people to try sports like hang gliding or paraponting. The dry stone walls and farm buildings will go to ruin and villages will die out without the “lifeblood of the community”. Naturally, I couldn't help asking him how he would vote, if he could. No dice. The subject changed rapidly to his latest campaign. In truth, I forget exactly what he said.
