And some people were expecting 5-0 England, were they? Australia comfortably won by 42 runs at Lords, but England edged the Natwest Series 3-2. The likes of Hussey, Marsh and even the tail contributed a stonking 130 in the final 11 overs to set England an imposing total. of 277-7. Stuart Broad chipped in with 4-64 off 10 overs, whilst Graeme Swann took 3 wickets at a slightly more respectable four per over. The rest of the England attack frankly got taken to the cleaners, James Anderson surpassed his previous effort in conceeding 75 off his sixty balls.
England lost early wickets and did not recover. Paul Collingwood top scoring with 95 with able support from Bresnan and Swann, but once again the failures of the Big Guns meant England fell well short with 3 overs to spare.
So Bangladesh up next. Swann and Pietersen get a chance to put their feet up, but with the likes of Trott to come back into the side, easy pickings are seemingly imminent.
