  Neil Warnock has given up in his efforts to land Darren Ambrose and will be turning his attention elsewhere. The Queens Park Rangers boss had been hoping to raid former employers Crystal Palace for classy midfield operator Ambrose. Having worked with the former Newcastle and Charlton man at Selhurst Park last season, Warnock is well aware of what the 26-year-old has to offer. He plundered 20 goals for the Eagles in 2009/10, helping them to avoid relegation out of the Championship. Warnock had been keen to bring a player of Ambrose's considerable calibre on board, but has been left frustrated in his efforts. He initially saw a bid accepted by financially-crippled Palace, but has seen them backtrack after securing new investment.

  Crystal Palace captain Shaun Derry has agreed to join Queens Park Rangers on a two-year deal from 1 July. The 32-year-old combative midfielder will link up with his new team-mates when his current Palace deal expires.   MK Dons have signed winger Angelo Balanta on a season-long loan from Championship side QPR. The 19-year-old Colombian-born midfielder has played 29 games for the Loftus Road club, scoring three goals.
