New Decor Exhibition Road, London Middlesex England

Running concurrently with its Ernesto Neto exhibition is The Hayward's summer 2010 group show 'The New Décor'. Part of the Southbank Centre's 'Festival Brazil', this show is an international survey of some 30 contemporary artists whose work explores interior design and asks how it engages with contemporary culture. Challenging functionality, many of the artists in the show create fantastical furniture and objects, transforming familiar forms into designs that straddle decoration, sculpture and installation art and reflect on the social, historical and psychological ideas and narratives contained in and inspired by everyday objects.
