Manchester Day Parade
A vibrant cavalcade of colour covers the city
Expect the city centre to look spectacular this Sunday as the first Manchester Day Parade hits the streets.
A giant peacock, a tiger, a winged horse, robots, aliens, astronauts, firemen, space hoppers, historical figures and a larger than life bee are among the spectacular sights lined up for this vibrant display of costumes, street dance and amazing wheeled structures.
The parade is being staged by theatre company Walk The Plank, featuring designs created by the local community to celebrate Manchester's 'out of this world' creativity.
The parade starts its route in Castlefield at 2pm, before taking in Deansgate, St Mary's Gate, Cross Street, Albert Square and Peter Street before returning to Castlefield.
