Oyston gives East Stand update Bloomfield Road, Blackpool Lancashire England
Oyston gives East Stand update
Published: 9th July 2010
KARL Oyston has admitted he's been blown away by the number of fans applying for season tickets.
The club has been inundated with requests and is still sifting through more than 11,000 applications.
It's a massive increase – they had fewer than 5,000 season-ticket holders for the last campaign.
The high demand from home fans means the north, west and south stands, plus part of the new east stand, will house Blackpool supporters.
Fans will receive their season ticket – in the form of a swipe card – by post at the start of next month, in time for the opening Premier League game against Wigan.
"We have sold sufficient season tickets in the north, west and south stands to make it a definite that the east stand will be split between home and away fans," said the chairman.
"We are delighted with the interest and the take-up we've had from home fans. It was beyond our wildest dreams and we hope it continues.
"We will be selling season tickets in the northern end of the east stand and we hope that fills up with Blackpool fans as well.
"The southern end of the east stand will be the area that houses away fans, 2,500 of them. Six hundred of those we are hoping to accommodate for corporate packages in the first floor of the south stand."
The capacity at Bloomfield Road is set to rise to 17,600 with the opening of the east stand.
There will be a supporters' bar installed in the south stand, which is on course to be ready for the start of the season.
