Holloway laughs off quit talk
Published: 26th June 2010
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has been quick to play down rumours that he could walk away from the club.
Holloway is currently in talks over a new contract at Bloomfield Road, but as yet nothing has been agreed.
Sources in the North West claimed that Holloway, despite leading Blackpool
to a memorable promotion, was ready to quit the club after failing to agree terms.
But the Tangerines chief has now rubbished suggestions that he could leave the club ahead of their maiden campaign in the Premier League.
"Anyone that thinks I would walk out on the club must be mad," he told the Blackpool Gazette.
"For people to think that I would walk out without saying anything, and that Karl (Oyston
) and I would fall-out badly is quite ridiculous.
"My intention is to lead Blackpool in the Premier League next season and that's the chairman's intention too.
"It's gone on for a few weeks, but we are pretty close to sorting it out I think. We are still in talks.
"I hear all sorts of other things about me walking out, and I don't know where they come from."
Busy
Holloway is confident that a deal will be agreed and says chairman Karl Oyston has had to prioritise a huge workload ahead of the new season.
"The thing is, the chairman does everything at this club," he said.
"With us going up, the workload has been huge. He's had to prioritise.
"If you go to the ground you'll see there's a massive obstacle that he's had to get over, so he's had to concentrate on that.
"I agree with the way he's done it."
