Holloway targets former Gunners starlet

We understand Blackpool are in talks with former Arsenal defender Kerrea Gilbert.

Gilbert is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at Emirates Stadium.

The 23-year-old failed to establish himself in Arsene Wenger's first-team plans and made only 10 appearances for the club.

The full-back enjoyed spells out on loan at Cardiff, Southend, Leicester and Peterborough over the last four seasons as Arsenal looked for him to gain some valuable first-team experience.

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is looking to bolster his squad as he prepares for life in the Premier League and Gilbert could be his first new arrival.

Holloway is unlikely to have vast sums to spend in the transfer window and the fact Gilbert is available on a free transfer makes him an attractive proposition to the Bloomfield Road chief.
