Alec Francis Roy Chamberlain (born June 20, 1964) is a former English goalkeeper currently employed by Watford as the club's goalkeeping coach. He made 788 league appearances during his 25-year playing career, the final 11 years and 247 appearances of which were with Watford. Career Chamberlain started his career at Ipswich as a trainee, but didn't make a single appearance for the club, moving to Colchester in 1982. He spent 5 years at Layer Road before joining Everton for £80,000. However, the then 23-year old was unable to displace established Everton goalkeeper Neville Southall, and his only appearances in the 1987-88 season were during a loan spell at Tranmere. Watford are expected to complete the signing of Carlisle United’s Tom Aldred after the highly-rated centre back was understood to have had a medical with the club this morning. Aldred has only made four starts for United but the 6ft 2 defender impressed during his short stint in the side. The 19-year-old is out of contract at Carlisle and rejected their one-year extension because his agent claimed it was a “poor contract” and“lacked incentives”. Saracens will face London Irish at Twickenham in their opening game of the 2010/11 season. Sarries will travel to the home of English rugby on Saturday, September 4 to take on Irish as part of the London Double Header, which will also see Wasps face Harlequins. Sale Sharks, Northampton Saints and Leicester Tigers will all travel to Vicarage Road in the first month of the season and the Men in Black will be at home to Wasps on Boxing Day. Lord Ashcroft loans another £500,000 to Watford FC, Vicarage Road, Watford Hertfordshire England

Watford's major shareholder Lord Ashcroft has loaned the club another £500,000. The deputy chairman of the Conservative party has loaned the football club the money to “assist with the working capital requirements of the business” as the Hornets wait to conclude the pending bonds issue. Watford's chief executive Julian Winter has stated on a number of occasions that Lord Ashcroft is willing to loan the club money until the bond issue is complete. Lord Aschroft owns a 37.16 per cent stake in parent company Watford Leisure Plc through Fordwat Limited and has now loaned the club more than £6.5m. Watford Football Club's Community Sports and Education Trust and Harrow Council announced today the news that their plans and proposals for the re-development of Cedars Youth and Community Centre have now been approved.
